Fict. is, very simply, a blog about creating fiction.

It aims to help unpack and demystify the writing process, to celebrate the writing life and to reassure other writers they’re not the only ones grappling with all the doubts and difficulties that adhere to the task of creating another world.

Doris Lessing said, ‘There are no laws for the novel. There never have been, nor can there ever be.’ Her view is liberating but it’s also daunting because each writer bears the burden of finding his or her own way to expression, to creating a new world.

With this in mind, Fict. explores the writing process from a variety of angles. While it is a personal exploration, I hope to persuade talented guests to contribute their thoughts. Ideally, you too will join the conversation and feel inspired to offer thoughts, suggestions and experiences of your own. And so, let the conversations begin!
